Wombat
A small, stubby marsupial endemic to Australia, wombats are an evolutionary mystery! It’s believed that wombats diverged from other Australian marsupials up to 40 million years ago, although some researchers believe the same divergence happened only 20 million years ago.
- History: Like other marsupials, wombats have pouches in which they carry their young. However, this pouch is located on the back of the wombat, allowing them to protect their offspring while they dig burrows. Similar to groundhogs and moles, wombats spend most of their time in underground dens, and only venture out to feed. Because they are nocturnal ground dwellers, they are rarely seen by humans.
- Characteristics: Painted with lifelike detail, this wombat toy model is exceptional as a toy for play, as a teaching aid, or as a piece of décor for your desk or nightstand. Wombats are nocturnal, so don’t expect too much activity from this pudgy pal during the day!
- Size: 2.5 inches tall and 2.5 inches long,
