Like all PAPO figurines, this Albatross is made from non-toxic plastic and is BPA and phthalate-free, making it a safe choice for play even with our younger ones.

• An albatross aloft can be a spectacular sight - these feathered giants have the longest wingspan of any bird—up to 3.4m! Albatrosses use their formidable wingspans to ride the ocean winds and sometimes to glide for hours without rest or even a flap of their wings. They also float on the sea's surface, though the position makes them vulnerable to aquatic predators.

• Another bird that will make you go, 'Awwwwww'! When a young albatross reaches 6 to 10 years old, it will usually start looking for a significant other. Almost all couples stick together until one party dies, forming unions that can last 50 years or longer.

• Interestingly, many of these unions can sometimes be same-sex, due to the imbalance in sex ratio of albatrosses. 31% of the long-term albatross couples on Hawaii’s Oahu Island were revealed to be female-female partnerships, with males being significantly outnumbered. #AllLoveIsEqual, if you ask us. :)

The albatross known to be the largest bird alive, lives in the oceans south of the Tropic of Capricorn but also in the North Pacific. The latter has the ability to use the winds to its advantage and can therefore travel great distances effortlessly. Its diet consists mainly of fish, squid or even krill which it finds on the surface. Did you know that once formed, albatross couples are faithful for life.
